The engineering of the way the Parthenon was built and how it was made to withstand earthquakes yet look so beautiful was amazing

Visiting the Acropolis Museum was an awe-inspiring experience- like stepping into the soul of ancient Greece. The carefully curated artifacts, marble masterpieces, and immersive storytelling brought to life the grandeur of a civilization I had only admired through books and lectures. Being fascinated by Greek mythology and philosophy, it was surreal to finally see the Parthenon sculptures and artifacts in person-each piece whispering tales of gods, heroes, and timeless ideas. It’s more than a museum; it’s a philosophical journey carved in stone and light!

We went on my birthday. I've always been into history and I thought it was amazing to be able to walk through an actually archaeological dig site! It's been a dream to participate in one. There was so much information, I could've spent all day there! The hike to the top of the acropolis brought tears to my eyes once we reached the summit. It's amazing that this was built without modern technology or tools. I would love to go back again

We visited in June and had an incredible experience at the Acropolis and Museum. The weather was perfect, the crowds were manageable and obviously the site was awe-inspiring. Our guide Elizabeth was fantastic. She is an archeologist with a special interest in architecture. Her knowledge of the Acropolis and history enhanced the tour. She loved questions...and we asked tons. She was able to engage both the teens and my elderly parents. She stealthily guided us to the top of the Acropolis which my 80 year old parents did not think they could do! She was the BEST. Thanks!

This was such an amazing experience. It was very hot, so make sure you take your water and maybe a hat. We went a little early so we had to wait. Just be mindful that they only let you in based on the time you booked. So, if you go early you will have to wait in the heat until it's your time to go in. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Our guide was charming - without her we wouldn't understand even a quarter of what our eyes see. The excavation area under the museum also adds a lot and really takes you back 2000 years to see and feel the period and what was there. The archaeological findings are simply amazing. Especially in a cluster of archaeological and historical sites like this, I really recommend others take a guided tour - it's simply a different experience that's much better than traveling alone without guidance.

The Parthenon and Museum combo ticket is a really good choice. It's very practical and we were able to access the sites without queuing. I'd recommend it The museum is really splendid and very well organized and gives an idea of the grandeur of the details that we can't see on the actual Parthenon. The two visits complement each other extremely well

I traveled by myself so took time to view the exhibits as much and as little as I wanted. I preferred this to being told many facts and figures which I would have forgotten before I was out the door. I liked seeing some of the pieces in their stages of deterioration to remind me of how many eras and years they have been around to help me understand that great art has been with us throughout time.

We enjoyed the beauty of the history there! Being able to get tickets in the phone was great. The lady viewing our tickets was not very friendly & she held us while she let everyone in line behind us through. Then she helped us w/a simple resolve in our ticket view on the phone. But overall we would do it again given the opportunity!

We only had one day to visit the Acropolis as we had a 24 hour layover. The tickets to the Acropolis and the museum was a good combination for us to spend the day. Sadly, my companion did not walk very well, and the elevator was not in working order for tourist. We did manage the steps slowly much to the ire of the various tour groups that visited at the same time as us. as for the museum, it was nice to see some of the pieces that were returned from the British Museum, I do hope someday that the Acropolis can be returned to a condition prior to the damage done by the various "visitors" of the 19th century.

Thr museum architecture was e trsorfinary, The exhibit per se was remarkable and so was the choice of artifacts by the audio guide. However the latter's comments in English were puerile, with a heavy Greek accent and more prone to boasting than anything else. The situation got even worse with the audio guide's comments on the acropolis.

Our guide was knowledgable, engaging, and able to convey information well. She was even kind enough to recommend a place to eat in the Plaka that had great views and fantastic food. I felt that the high point was to see how things have changed since 1978. The Acropolis is easier to walk around as so much has been reconstructed or moved. The museum allows patrons to see finds and to appreciate the way the Parthenon was constructed.

This was not really the vendor or Headout at fault, but I wanted to give further instructions to others so that they do not miss their tour like we did. DO NOT USE APPLE MAPS to find the ADDRESS given for the meeting spot. It lead us to the wrong part of town. Instead, USE GPS to find ATHENS WALKS. This will take you to the meeting spot, which turned out to be near Acropolis and near our hotel. Good luck- better luck.

We had a bit of a mix up with some of the tickets but we reached out and got a quick reply with a solution to the problem. The attractions were amazing (crowded but what can you do during top season 🤷). I would highly recommend using this service if you are in Athens and want to see the best attraction without having to wait in line and hassle with all the individual tickets.

We booked with the MagaPass which in itself was great value. The problem however with the MegaPass is that they have a relationship with the partners that the bookings seem to only be made when we show up and SHOW the email confirmation. The Big Bus company were great. We Showed them the Pass and all went Well. HeadOut - Could not provide the Audio Guide on their App, so the Museum tour was lacking the Audio. Finally - Sights Of Athens (sightsofathens.gr) When we showed them the booking for our Corinth Tour said - Sorry Bus is full No Space, can sort you out on another day but since this was our last day, nothing could be done ...

Unmatched collection of ancient artifacts

The Acropolis Museum showcases over 4,200 artifacts from the Acropolis of Athens, covering the Archaic, Classical, and Roman periods – spanning over 3,000 years. In its galleries, you can see the famous Caryatids, the Parthenon Frieze, the Moschophoros (Calf-Bearer) statue, and the bronze statuette of Athena Promachos.

Underground archaeological excavation site

The museum’s most fascinating exhibit is the archaeological site uncovered during the construction of the new building. Known as the “Makrygiannis plot”, the ancient Athens neighborhood dates back to around 3000 BCE. A glass-floor atrium offers a unique glimpse of the ongoing excavations, including the grid of streets, houses, workshops, baths, and mosaics.

A glimpse into everyday life in ancient Athens

The museum holds an extensive collection of everyday items excavated from the structures and settlements on the slopes of the Acropolis Hill. From storage vessels and cooking pots to toys and figurines of deities, they provide a unique glimpse into the daily lives of ancient Athenians over many centuries in the shadow of the Acropolis.

A perfect complement to the Acropolis

A visit to the Acropolis Museum gives you essential context about the Acropolis and the priceless artifacts unearthed from it, bringing ancient Greek history and mythology to life. Located right below Acropolis Hill, it is an ideal complement to the site and can easily be covered in the same visit.

Know before you book your Acropolis Museum tickets

Remember, you’ll still need to go through the security check, though.
