We went on my birthday. I've always been into history and I thought it was amazing to be able to walk through an actually archaeological dig site! It's been a dream to participate in one. There was so much information, I could've spent all day there! The hike to the top of the acropolis brought tears to my eyes once we reached the summit. It's amazing that this was built without modern technology or tools. I would love to go back again

Wonderful experience. I took the latest slot. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and funny. Wish it wasn't under construction but its a great reason to go back again one day when it is not. The views were great, the crowds moved quickly and I didn't feel there was a lot of wait time anywhere. Great team that keeps this place running!

The story is well told. The starting point should be better marked. Why not put up signs like in a museum? Not everyone can read a map.

This was such an amazing experience. It was very hot, so make sure you take your water and maybe a hat. We went a little early so we had to wait. Just be mindful that they only let you in based on the time you booked. So, if you go early you will have to wait in the heat until it's your time to go in. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Booking tickets in adcance was very worth it. I was on a cruise and got into Athens centre at about 9.30. By tbe time we had walked up the hill to the ticket office they were selling tickets for the 1pm entry as all earlier tickets had sold out.

Michael was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable but added a good bit of humour. The organisation of the tour was great we met at the shop before and prepared our headsets. There was plenty of opportunity for a water break and a stop in the shade. Thanks Michael for a good tour!

We went right in the morning at 8, and got in line about 7:30 to ensure we'd be there before major crowds and the sun, and super glad we did! We spent about an hour and enjoyed looking at all the ruins.

We purchased tickets in advance online and arrived shortly before our scheduled entry time. We waited for a short time to be allowed to enter (maybe 10 minutes). It was somewhat crowded at 5 pm, but the crowds were easy to navigate with and through. It did not affect our enjoyment. The site is amazing to see in person! You can see te entire city. Of Athens and surrounding areas out to the sea. We visited in mid June and it gets SUPER hot so prehydrate and everyone take water. There are spots you can sit and take rest breaks in a bit of shade.

The Parthenon and Museum combo ticket is a really good choice. It's very practical and we were able to access the sites without queuing. I'd recommend it The museum is really splendid and very well organized and gives an idea of the grandeur of the details that we can't see on the actual Parthenon. The two visits complement each other extremely well

The Acropolis itself is spectacular, it is a millenary place and incredible! It would be very useful the audio guide to learn and understand where you are and what is what but it was good the tickets with no line and no problem to redeem them. The tourist bus is good for people who dedicate the time we had no problem using it but we did not have time so next time I do not buy it because I did not use it. To improve the location of the stops in piraeus and glyfada, we could never find them.

I booked my ticket late, so this was a great way to secure an 8am entry when the tickets had sold out on the official site. I was visiting alone and so the audio guide was a perfect way for me to wander as I wished and learn alot about the site, which I found alot easier to digest than the info boards. The audio guide was easy to navigate and the map useful to locate yourself, and full of great historical facts.

We only had one day to visit the Acropolis as we had a 24 hour layover. The tickets to the Acropolis and the museum was a good combination for us to spend the day. Sadly, my companion did not walk very well, and the elevator was not in working order for tourist. We did manage the steps slowly much to the ire of the various tour groups that visited at the same time as us. as for the museum, it was nice to see some of the pieces that were returned from the British Museum, I do hope someday that the Acropolis can be returned to a condition prior to the damage done by the various "visitors" of the 19th century.

Good atmosphere, from the audience. It would be nice if there were a few more information boards. The kiosk wanted €7.50 for a pack of pringels which is extortionate. The general prices were very high, but this exceeded that.

The package is worth it, especially because it includes the entrance to the Acropolis and watching the sunset at the temple of Poseidon is beautiful. What I think is confusing is the beginning of the tour. We waited at the appointed place 15 minutes before our time and no one showed up. Then we went to exchange tickets and entered the Acropolis but we missed the first part of the tour.

The pick-up points were clear, uncluttered and precise, so there was nothing to report on that score. The sites we visited were magnificent and well worth the detour - and the weather was just right too 😍. The only negative point was the temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. We had the (less pleasant) surprise to discover, once there, that we had to add €20 from our own pocket to gain access to the site. This point should be mentioned more clearly in the advert! Having said that, our guide was adorable, which helped us get over the hump 😊. In conclusion: a great day out, definitely worth doing again! But the details regarding entrance fees really should be better specified, for example: "Tickets for the temple of Poseidon are not included." Thank you for a memorable experience.

We visited in June and had an incredible experience at the Acropolis and Museum. The weather was perfect, the crowds were manageable and obviously the site was awe-inspiring. Our guide Elizabeth was fantastic. She is an archeologist with a special interest in architecture. Her knowledge of the Acropolis and history enhanced the tour. She loved questions...and we asked tons. She was able to engage both the teens and my elderly parents. She stealthily guided us to the top of the Acropolis which my 80 year old parents did not think they could do! She was the BEST. Thanks!

Our guide was charming - without her we wouldn't understand even a quarter of what our eyes see. The excavation area under the museum also adds a lot and really takes you back 2000 years to see and feel the period and what was there. The archaeological findings are simply amazing. Especially in a cluster of archaeological and historical sites like this, I really recommend others take a guided tour - it's simply a different experience that's much better than traveling alone without guidance.

Visiting the Acropolis Museum was an awe-inspiring experience- like stepping into the soul of ancient Greece. The carefully curated artifacts, marble masterpieces, and immersive storytelling brought to life the grandeur of a civilization I had only admired through books and lectures. Being fascinated by Greek mythology and philosophy, it was surreal to finally see the Parthenon sculptures and artifacts in person-each piece whispering tales of gods, heroes, and timeless ideas. It’s more than a museum; it’s a philosophical journey carved in stone and light!

Seeing the Parthenon in person is absolutely amazing. However the "trek" to the top is not for the faint and kind hearted. It is strenuous tonsay the least. But well worth the trek. I was great getting a local Athen view of Acropolis with entry tickets. Wear good comfortable shoes because the footing is uneven and can be slippery. The Acropolis with the museum is a long day and by the time we got to the museum, our group only had stamina for an hour in the museum.

An amazing tour. Our guide Vangelis (apologies if spelled incorrectly) was very passionate and has great knowledge about the history of the Acropolis. He let us all go at our own pace and gave time for taking photos. Going to the mueseum after seeing it in person was a good way to complete the tour. Take note to wear comfortable shoes with good grip as there is a lot of walking and the ground can be uneven. Go to the restroom when given the chance. Bring water with you. We'd highly recommend this tour :)

Our guide (Julia) was exceptional. Her depth of knowledge, paired with her incredible storytelling truly made our entire experience wonderful. The headsets were essential and we were grateful to have them. It was great to be able to skip the line as well! Our only regret was that we weren't able to hire Julia for the entire rest of our week in Athens- she is a treasure!

The best of the whole tour was the guide. Passionate and very prepared, he narrated everything in a clear, simple and attractive way. He was unhurried. He was leading the group naturally, he kept in mind the rhythm of each person making us enjoy almost without perceiving the "stress that surrounded us" by an acropolis full of tourists. Despite the amount of people around us, we as a group, because of how the guide was explaining and leading the story, we never felt the crowd. Excellent experience. I recommend it.

Our trip to Athens was absolutely wonderful. The only reason I have not given it top marks was because of the disjointed organisation for the disabled. The distance between the taxi ranks and the buggies to the lift was to far for anyone with problems walking to achieve and even if one had access to a wheel chair it is up a steep incline on beautiful slippery marble. Disabled access to the wonderful National Archaeological Museum was again difficult between taxi and door. I have to, msay that everybody with whom we came in contact was kind and helpful.

We had a bit of a mix up with some of the tickets but we reached out and got a quick reply with a solution to the problem. The attractions were amazing (crowded but what can you do during top season 🤷). I would highly recommend using this service if you are in Athens and want to see the best attraction without having to wait in line and hassle with all the individual tickets.

We booked with the MagaPass which in itself was great value. The problem however with the MegaPass is that they have a relationship with the partners that the bookings seem to only be made when we show up and SHOW the email confirmation. The Big Bus company were great. We Showed them the Pass and all went Well. HeadOut - Could not provide the Audio Guide on their App, so the Museum tour was lacking the Audio. Finally - Sights Of Athens (sightsofathens.gr) When we showed them the booking for our Corinth Tour said - Sorry Bus is full No Space, can sort you out on another day but since this was our last day, nothing could be done ...

Top things to do in Athens

The Acropolis of Athens | Architectural masterpiece of Ancient Greece

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel situated on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the city. It served as a point of worship and a political and religious center in ancient Greece, particularly from the 6th to 1st centuries BCE. Inside the Acropolis, you can marvel at the architectural brilliance of ancient Greek architects and craftsmen, and look at several notable monuments and buildings such as the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike. The Acropolis symbolizes the birthplace of democracy and stands as a testament to the intellectual and cultural achievements of ancient Greece. Read on to learn more about the Acropolis of Athens, its opening hours, how to book Acropolis tickets, and other details to plan a seamless visit.

Things to know before you buy your Athens Acropolis ticket

  • Guided tours for an enhanced visit: Consider booking a guided Acropolis tour or buying Acropolis tickets with an audio guide so that you can better understand the history, myths, and culture associated with the ancient monument.
  • Fast track tickets to save time: The site can get quite crowded, especially during the peak season, and is busiest between 10 AM and 2 PM. We recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon or evening to avoid large crowds. You can save time by booking Acropolis fast track tickets, which allow you to bypass long ticket queues and gain direct access to the attraction.
  • Combo tickets for a comprehensive experience: With Acropolis combo tickets, you can explore other sites in addition to the Acropolis of Athens under a single ticket. Visiting the Acropolis Museum or the Ancient Agora of Athens will give you a thorough understanding of the ancient Greek sites.

  • Factor in time for the security check: All visitors, including those with fast track tickets, have to go through a mandatory security check before being allowed to enter the Acropolis. So factor in the time to wait in the security lines.
